Poem – They Nailed My Daughter To A Tree

They nailed my daughter to a tree,
They took her with no shame;
Her memories slipped through my hands,
I couldn’t stop her pain.

The priests and Levites with their rules
Pretended not to see,
Yet quietly handed nails to those
Who nailed her to a tree.

They nailed my daughter to a tree
Then mocked with threats and spit;
Her fragile heart they filled with fear,
Her bonds of love they slit.

Deep grief and loss hung on the cross;
A broken family.
Her captors cultivated hate
And nailed her to a tree.

They nailed my daughter to a tree,
They schemed and tricked and lied.
Officials stood with hardened hearts
As joy and justice died.
