Now that the second series of the podcast is underway, the weekly blog update will simply signpost to the latest podcast. I have no wish to overload supporters with the burden of reading a blog and listening to a podcast, especially since the two will be chronologically-adrift.

Series 2 Episode 1 – The Document

The podcast episode, ‘The Document’ is the first in a new series about The Lizzie Gladwell Crisis, narrated by her father, Jeremy Gladwell. He recounts the year since his vulnerable daughter, Lizzie, was taken and subjected to coercive control, isolation and trauma. Frustrated by the lack of response from Humberside Police and Focus Adult Social Work, Jeremy and his wife Jane compiled ‘The Document’, an 80,000-word dossier detailing Lizzie’s background, the circumstances of her removal, evidence of coercive control, and the agencies’ failure to act.

Despite sending this detailed report to multiple high-ranking officials, including the Chief Constable, the agencies refused to read it, with Humberside Police citing the need for Lizzie’s permission – a request Jeremy describes as a “cruel and callous joke” given their inability to contact her. The episode highlights the family’s struggle for accountability and Jeremy’s decision to create the podcast to tell the story and warn others after his pleas for action were ignored.
